I HAVE THE FOURTH EDITION OF SAXON ALGERA 1 OR 2 AND THE THIRD EDITION DIVE Algebra 1 or 2.
The fourth editions of Saxon Algebra 1 & 2 were published by Houghton Mifflin, not John Saxon. They do not integrate geometry so your student will need to take an extra year of math to take Geometry. We recommend you return this set for a refund. Then, use either the third edition of Saxon Algebra 1 or switch to our new updated format of DIVE/Saxon: SHORMANN MATH WITH AUTOMATED GRADING, GRADE RECORDING, AND VIDEO SOLUTIONS.
WHY SHOULD I SWITCH TO SHORMANN MATH?
Since the College Board redesigned the PSAT & SAT with many concepts not taught in Saxon Math, Dr. Shormann published a new math curriculum that teaches every concept on the new PSAT & SAT, as well as the ACT. Based on John Saxon's incremental approach with continual review Shormann Math incorporates 21st Century concepts like computer math, technology applications, and current real-world word problems. Shormann Math features video lectures, interactive homework, quizzes, and exams, auto-grading and grade recording, video solutions, and Q&A email support with Dr. Shormann. Are the Fourth Editions of Saxon Algebra 1 & 2 Common Core?
The Fourth Editions of Saxon Algebra 1 & 2 were published well before the Common Core standards were adopted. However, they are Common Core influenced and even worse, they were published by Houghton Mifflin and do not follow John Saxon's original teaching methods. This is why Dr. Shormann published a new curriculum that uses John's methods but it is updated with 21st Century concepts like computer math, technology applications, etc and teaches all the concepts on the redesigned PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
