SHORMANN ALGEBRA 1 & 2
- Each course earns 1.5 credits and can be completed over three semesters. Instead of scheduling the course over three semesters, allow the student to learn at their own pace by using the Timed Method (Teacher Guide). SHORMANN PRECALCULUS
- Saxon Algebra 2 Users (2nd or 3rd Edition): This course earns 1/2 credit of Geometry. The remaining 1/2 credit of Geometry is earned in Shormann Precalculus. Therefore, these users can complete Shormann Precalculus course over 3 semesters. Instead of planning out the course over three semesters, allow the student to learn at their own pace by using the Timed Method (Teacher Guide). After the first 20 lessons or so, a minimum of three lessons should be completed each week. If you take a summer break, retake the last 10 Practice Sets to provide review and develop fluency. - Shormann Algebra 2 Users: Upon completion of Shormann Algebra 2, 1 full credit of Geometry and 1 credit of Algebra 2 is earned. Shormann Precalculus earns 1 credit of Precalculus with Trigonometry. Because only 1 credit is earned, most students complete Precalculus in 32-40 weeks. However, allow the student to learn at their own pace by using the Timed Method (Teacher Guide). If your student takes more than a typical school year to complete it, that's okay. They won't earn .5 credits of math per semester butThe important thing is to make sure they complete a minimum of 3 lessons per week. - Other Publisher: If your student did not use Saxon or Shormann for Algebra 2, a geometry course should be completed before taking Shormann Precalculus, Then, upon completion of Shormann Precalculus, 1 credit of Precalculus with Trigonometry is earned. Because only 1 credit is earned, most students complete Precalculus in 32-40 weeks. However, allow the student to learn at their own pace by using the Timed Method (Teacher Guide). To develop mastery, a minimum of three lessons should be completed per week, most weeks. If your student takes more than a typical school year to complete Precalculus, that's okay. Simply list the credits on your transcript as instructed here: High School Transcript. If you take a break of four weeks or more, a review of of previously learned concepts is required before learning new concepts. To review, retake the last 10 Practice Sets then, continue the course normally.
