My child is taking Saxon 8/7. Should I switch to Shormann Prealgebra now?

Yes. While Shormann Pre-Algebra teaches the same topics as Saxon 87, they are in a different sequence. Also, Shormann Pre-Algebra teaches 21st Century concepts not taught in Saxon 87. This means all students must start with lesson 1 and complete all assignments as instructed.

1. IS THE STUDENT STRUGGLING IN SAXON 87?

YES: Dr. Shormann recommends switching to Shormann Pre-Algebra now. However, he recommends starting with lesson 1 and completing all assignments as instructed.

NO: Continue to the next question.

2. IS THE STUDENT BEYOND LESSON 20?

YES: While Shormann Pre-Algebra teaches the same topics as Saxon 87, they are in a different sequence. Also, it teaches concepts not taught in Saxon 87. This means students must start with lesson 1 and complete all assignments as instructed. Switching to Shormann Pre-algebra will require your student to do more lessons than if you stay in Saxon 87. For example, if you are on lesson 30 and switch to Shormann, your student will complete 130 lessons instead of 120. However, the tools in the Shormann eLearning course, like the help links above each question, instant feedback, and automated grading make learning more efficient which may be worth the extra lessons.

NO: Since Shormann Pre-algebra only has 100 lessons and Saxon 87 has 120, you may want to consider switching to Shormann Pre-algebra now. While students must start with lesson 1 and complete all assignments as instructed, the self-paced eLearning course provides automated grading, help links above each question, and instant feedback which makes learning faster and easier.
