What should I take after Abeka 8th Grade science?
If the student will be taking Algebra 1, Integrated Chemistry and Physics is recommended. -
Can I take DIVE Physics with Algebra 2?
If using DIVE/Saxon Physics as a high school course or to prepare for the AP Physics 1 or 2 exams, the minimum pre-requisite for Saxon Physics is to have completed or to be taking Precalculus concurrently. If you are planning to take one of the AP Physics C exams, the prerequisite is Calculus. I... -
Can we skip General Science and take ICP, Biology, Chemistry, then Physics?
Yes, as long as your student is taking Algebra 1, he will do fine starting with DIVE Integrated Chemistry & Physics. If your student is taking pre-algebra, you could start with DIVE Earth Science. It covers what most General Science courses cover. Learn More: Science Placement Chart -
Math is the language of science, an important tool used to discover and better understand the world God created. DIVE Science courses teach students how apply the math they are learning to science. To fully understand and succeed inDIVE Earth Science, students should be taking pre-algebra or hig...

If Apologia Physical Science was taken, is my student ready for Biology?
Apologia Physical Science (all editions including the 3rd Ed.) does not teach all the required introductory chemistry concepts needed to learn biology. The biological processes learned in biology are driven by chemical reactions. Therefore, a good understanding of introductory chemistry is requir... -
The biological processes learned in biology are driven by chemical reactions. Therefore, a good understanding of introductory chemistry is required to learn high school biology. Unfortunately, Rainbow Science Year 1 does not teach all the required introductory chemistry concepts. Dr. Shormann's ...

My student completed 8th Grade Science with Abeka or Bob Jones
If your student will be taking Algebra 1 or higher, Dr. Shormann recommends DIVE Integrated Physics and Chemistry Self-Paced eLearning Course. If your student will be taking Pre-Algebra (or Saxon 8/7 with Pre-Algebra), take DIVE Earth Science Self-Paced eLearning course. -
My student failed or did not finish Apologia Biology.
If the student failed Apologia Biology, he should retake the course using DIVE Biology. However, if Integrated Chemistry & Physics (similar to Physical Science but with more intro chemistry), was not taken before Biology, he did not learn enough introductory chemistry to understand the biolog... -
Because it requires the student to be taking Algebra 2 or higher, these students cannot take DIVE Chemistry. Please see the recommended options below: Option 1: Most colleges only require 3 sciences for non-science majors. If your student is behind in math, take a break from science and use the ...

Integrated Physics & Chemistry (ICP) is an introductory course designed to prepare students for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics . Many colleges will not accept ICP as a high school science credit after Biology has been taken. However, if your student is not college bound or will not apply dir...
-
Instead of Biology, Dr. Shormann recommends DIVE Earth Science which can be used as a high school science credit. Then, take ICP in 10th grade, Biology in 11th grade, and Chemistry (or Physics) in 12th grade. Earth Science will be easier than Biology and allow your student more time to "catch up...

My student is taking Algebra 1 (or Geometry), can he take DIVE Chemistry?
The prerequisite for DIVE Chemistry, is Algebra 2 has been completed or is being taken along with DIVE Chemistry. You may want to consider DIVE Integrated Chemistry & Physics which provides excellent preparation for honors level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I posted some information abou... -
My student is taking pre-algebra, can he take DIVE Integrated Chemistry & Physics?
Math is the language of science. Unless the student is taking Algebra 1 or higher, they will not understand the concepts in ICP. Therefore, it will not prepare them for Biology. See Dr. Shormann's recommendations for your student here: Science Student Placement Chart -
My student took Apologia Physics and will be taking Precalculus or higher.
While Apologia Physics is more of an introductory physics course, DIVE + Saxon Physics is a college preparatory physics course which prepare students for the AP Physics 1&2 exams as well as the AP Physics C exams. Therefore, Dr. Shormann recommends DIVE + Saxon Physics for your student. -
Math is the language of science, an important tool used to discover and better understand the world God created. Therefore, placement in a DIVE Science course is determined by the student's math level at the time he/she is starting the course. Find your student's grade and math level below to det...

Student is in 8th grade taking Algebra 1 and has a learning disability
If your student is in 8th grade and taking Algebra 1, our general recommendation is DIVE ICP. However since your student has ADHD you may want to consider DIVE Earth Science. Then, take DIVE ICP in ninth grade, followed by biology, chemistry, and physics. -
What is the prerequisite for DIVE Chemistry?
The only prerequisite for DIVE Chemistry is that the student has either completed Algebra 2 or higher or is taking Algebra 2 along with Chemistry. Shormann Algebra 2 with Integrated Geometry is recommended as it provides excellent preparation for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT and include expert video in...
